abstract
this study was investigated the effects of dietary estradiol-17? (e2) on growth, body composition and blood indices in acipenser stellatus. fish (40.9 ? 1.1 g average initial weight; n = 60 per group) were fed with three different diets containing 0 (control), 25 and 50 mg kg-1 dietary estradiol contents to apparent satiation for seven months. the results suggested that growth rate were decreased as the e2 level was increased. no significant difference was observed in condition factor among dietary treatments. the highest survival rate was observed in fish fed control diet, but was not significantly different among the treatments (p>0.05). body composition did not show significant changes among dietary treatments. number of white blood cells and red blood cells, hemoglobin and hematocrit values were significantly decreased as the e2 levels were raised (p

full textEffect of Dietary Estradiol 17 on Growth, Hematology and Biochemistry of Stellate Sturgeon Acipenser stellatus
The effects of oral administration of different doses of estradiol-17 (E2) were examined on the growth performance, body composition, sex steroids, blood indices and histology of liver and gonad in Acipenser stellatus juveniles. Five-months-old fish (40.9 ± 1.1 g) were fed 0, 25 and 50 mg E2 kg diet for 210 1 days. Results showed that increasing doses of E2 caused reduce growth rate. No signifi...
full textThe effect of dietary dextrin levels on growth performance, body composition and hepatosomatic index in juvenile Siberian sturgeon, Acipenser baerii
The present study was carried out to determine the ability of Acipenser baerii in utilizing carbohydrate (dextrin) as a non protein energy source substituted with animal oil. A total of 65 juveniles A. baerii with an initial mean weight of 689 ± 62 g were distributed in 15 fiber glass tanks. Five diets were formulated including 0, 5, 10, 15 and 20% of dextrin and fed for 8 weeks. Fish were wei...

full textFertilizing ability of cryopreserved spermatozoa in the Persian sturgeon (Acipenser persicus) and stellate sturgeon (A. stellatus)
Motility of spermatozoa was studied on 12 and 7 specimens of Acipenser persicus and A. stellatus, respectively. The density measured to be 2.22±0.65x109ml-1 in A. persicus and 2.21±0.55x109ml-1 in A. stellatus. Semen samples were diluted with two extenders containing tris 118mM, sucrose 23.4mM, pH=8, egg yolk (20%), dimethyl sulfoxide (15%) and penicillin potassium (500IU/ml) and biociphus exte...
